At our Summer Reading Pirate Kick-off Party!

Designed for pre-readers and independent readers up to age 11

 

Sign-up at the Kick-off Party or Children’s Department to receive your bookmark, reading log, schedule of activities and have your name entered in the “registration raffle!”

The reading game is fun and easy! All you have to do is read (books, magazines, newspapers, even books on your summer reading list for school). YOU can decide how many books you want to read! Keep track of the books you have read (or someone read to you). Then come visit us at the library to “report” on your books you have read. To “report,” you can draw a picture, tell us about your favorite character or why you would recommend this book to a friend. Every time you report, you will receive a coupon to a fun place around Rhode Island AND be entered in a weekly drawing for a terrific prize. Continue reading between July 1st and August 8th and become eligible to be entered into a drawing for tickets to the PawSox game on Tuesday, August 20th at McCoy Stadium!  All participants who complete the Summer Reading Game will be invited to our annual Wrap-up Pizza Party on Friday, August 9th.

The statewide Rhode Island Summer Reading Program is supported by the RI Office of Library and Information Services with funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the Pawtucket Red Sox, Citizens Bank and Pepsi. Local support includes RI Children’s, Young Adult Librarians and the Friend’s of North Providence Union Free Library.

 Friday, June 21@ 2:00 pm   Summer Reading Registration begins with a Kick-off Pirate Party!! Fun and Games for the whole family!! Food & Refreshments.

 Monday, July 1 @ 2:00 pm   Dinoman Dinosaurs.   A high energy show that features fun, incredible props, and life-size dinosaurs! (Ages 7 and up)

Thursday, July 11 @ 2:00 pm   Malik the Magic Guy.  The show features 45 minutes of magic and comedy suitable for the whole family. (All Ages)

Tuesday, July 16 @ 2:00 pm   Eric Fulford, Improv Comedy.  Come and learn improv comedy with professional actor Eric Fulford! We don’t use scripts or props- we make up everything as we go!  (Ages 10 & up)

Thursday, July 18 @ 1:00 pm   Animal World Experiences.  Can You Dig It?  Come learn the reasons why so many different animals dig, and the various ways they do it. Live animals! (All ages)

 Wednesday, July 24 @ 3:00 pm   Bwana Iguana Reptile Adventures.  An interactive program that both entertains, and educates regarding the mysterious realm of reptiles. Audience members are encouraged to participate, hands on, in order to gain the ultimate reptilian experience. (All ages)

 Wednesday, July 31 @ 2:00 pm   Rick Morin’s Rhythm Imaginarium explores the World of Music & Rhythm through Imagination, Hands-On Learning & Fun! (Ages 5 and up)

Thursday, August 1@ 1:00 am   Ronald McDonald’s Read, Imagine & Fun Show (Ages 3 and up)

Tuesday, August 7 @ 2:00 pm.  Carolyn Martino, Storyteller. Stories from under WHERE? From under the ground, under the house, under a rock, under the pillows, that’s where! But you won’t have to dig too deep to find them – fun, magical, even spooky tales, plus songs and jokes.
