Build a Better World  is the theme for the 2017 Summer Reading Game at the Library.  This program is designed for pre-readers and independent readers up to age 11.  Sign-ups begin on Monday, June 19th, in the Children’s Department.

The Reading Game is Fun and Easy

All you have to do is read (books, magazines, newspapers, even books on your summer reading list for school).  Keep track of your reading by either the amount of books (you can decide how many) or the time you spent reading (or someone reading to you). Come to the library to “report” on the books you have read (you can draw a picture, tell us about your favorite character or why you would recommend this book to a friend).  Every time you report, you will receive a coupon to a fun place around Rhode Island and be entered in a weekly drawing for a terrific prize.  Continue reading between June 26th and August 11th and when you have reached your goal of number of books read or minutes per day read, you have completed the summer reading game!  All participants who complete the Summer Reading Game will be invited to our annual Wrap-up Party in August 15th and receive a PawSox game ticket.

The Summer Reading Program is sponsored by the Rhode Island Office of Library and Information Services, the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the North Providence Union Free Library.
