Summer Reading Game – FIZZ, BOOM, READ

The sign-ups for the 2014 summer reading game will begin on Monday, June 23rd, in the Children’s’ Department of the Library.  The reading game is designed for pre-readers and independent readers up to age 11.  When you sign up, you will receive your bookmark, reading log, schedule of activities and have your name entered in the “registration raffle!”.  FIZZ_BOOM_READ_logo Primary Stacked The reading game is fun and easy!  All you have to do is read (books, magazines, newspapers, even books on your summer reading list for school).  YOU can decide how many books you want to read!  Keep track of the books you have read (or someone read to you).  Then visit us at the library to “report” on the books you have read.  To “report”, you can draw a picture, tell us about your favorite character or why you would recommend this book to a friend.

Every time you report, you will receive a coupon to a fun place around Rhode Island AND be entered in a weekly drawing for a terrific prize.  Continue reading between June 23rd and August 8th to reach your goal, and you will become eligible to be entered into a drawing for 4 tickets to the PawSox game and a chance to win a free trip to Disney World on Friday, August 19th at McCoy Stadium!

NEW THIS YEAR!  Participants who complete the summer reading game will be entitled to one free PawSox ticket!!  Please ask for details!  All participants who complete the Summer Reading Game will also be invited to our annual Wrap-Up Pizza Party and the Mad Science Show on Wednesday, August 13th.

 

 

The statewide Rhode Island Summer Reading Program is supported by the RI Office of Library and Information Services with funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the Pawtucket Red Sox, Citizens Bank, and Pepsi.  Local support includes RI Children’s and Young Adult Librarians, and the Friends of North Providence Union Free Library.
