Welcome to the Children’s Department!
Our focus is on children from birth through age 14. We have a large collection of materials including : board books, picture books, books for beginning readers, current and classic fiction, a wide range of non-fiction titles, books in Spanish, audio books, music CDs, magazines, downloadable audio and e-books and much, much more including a computer room for children up to the age of 13!
We have 5 special AWE computers. These Early Literacy Stations are a dynamic all-in-one digital learning solution for children ages 2–10. These popular computers are a must for many children any time they visit the library. They are so much fun no one notices how much learning is actually taking place. One is Spanish/English bilingual.
We also have available in the Children’s Department ELS Passports from AWE which are a new digital learning tool that children will be able to use at home. The ELS Passport is a portable version of the Early Literacy Station™ workstation that can be checked out just like a book or DVD. It is designed for children 2-10 years old.
